EDGELESS and MLSysOps projects to be presented by Ubiwhere at the HiPEAC 2026 Conference
Between the 26th and 28th of January, Ubiwhere will be at the HiPEAC 2026 Conference, the leading European forum for computer architecture, programming models, compilers, and operating systems for general-purpose, embedded, and cyber-physical systems. Our participation will focus on presenting the EDGELESS and MLSysOps projects.
HiPEAC 2026 will take place in Kraków, an important European hub for innovation. Recognised as a leading meeting point between academia and industry, the HiPEAC conference will bring together experts, researchers and decision-makers to discuss challenges and emerging trends in areas such as critical safety systems, cybersecurity, energy efficiency and machine learning. In parallel with the main programme, the event will include workshops, tutorials, special sessions, and an industrial exhibition, all designed to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Ubiwhere will be represented by Bruno Pereira, Project Manager, and Bruno Feitais, Embedded Systems Engineer, who will be speakers at the session ‘ML4ECS: Machine Learning for Edge-Cloud Systems’, scheduled for the 26th of January, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. During this session, the EDGELESS and MLSysOps projects will be presented, focusing on the application of machine learning techniques to edge-cloud environments. These projects address fundamental challenges in scalability, efficiency, orchestration, and the intelligent management of distributed systems, contributing to more robust, efficient, and adaptive edge-cloud architectures. In the EDGELESS project, Ubiwhere contributes by building an autonomous smart city surveillance pilot and providing edge computing solutions. In the MLSysOps project, Ubiwhere is responsible for studying energy efficiency in the Smart City use case, aiming to make streets and pavements safer for pedestrians by analysing how demand patterns change, identifying emergencies, providing faster responses, and performing complex analyses.
Ubiwhere’s participation in HiPEAC 2026 reflects our contribution to the development of smart, secure and sustainable digital infrastructures, in line with the future challenges of cyber-physical systems and smart cities.
