“Free up some spectrum for innovation’’: Ubiwhere’s message at the Conference ANACOM “5G em Ação”
The 11th ANACOM Conference -’’5G em ação’’ took place on the 10th and 11th of September at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento. The event highlighted 5G solutions and pilot projects. Ubiwhere was one of the invited entities that presented research and technological innovation projects: IMAGINE-B5G, Smart5Grid (H2020), and Ride2Autonomy. The conference also centred on sharing projects and solutions piloted or implemented in Portugal.
The Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM) organised the Conference ‘5G em ação’ to highlight the practical benefits of solutions that implement 5G technology and that have effectively contributed to an environment of more significant innovation and collaboration. ANACOM, according to its president Sandra Maximiano, wants to develop a project in partnership with other organisations to provide information, if possible georeferenced, on 5G solutions in the field with organisations at the event.
Ubiwhere was one of the companies participating in the Conference ANACOM "5G em ação". Ana Pereira, Head of R&I, and Hélio Simeão, Product Owner, were our representatives responsible for disseminating our technological projects focusing on implementing 5G solutions. Ana Pereira spoke about 5G in various sectors, such as Mobility and Sovereignty Civil Protection, presenting Ubiwhere’s role and the digital projects it is developing to implement these areas. Hélio Simeão discussed Ubiwhere’s work on 5G in Energy, mentioning that ‘to incorporate spectrum changes into projects, the processes are still very time-consuming’ and that it is important to ‘free up some spectrum for innovation’, emphasising the importance of regulating the spectrum, as is the current example in Finland.
Ubiwhere, through its role in 5G in various domains, promoted and disseminated projects in which it is a member of its consortium: IMAGINE-B5G, Smart5Grid (H2020) and Ride2Autonomy. This conference was an opportunity for organisations like Ubiwhere, looking to implement or innovate digital transformation processes using 5G technology or networks.
