Rui A. Costa, Co-CEO of Ubiwhere, re-elected to the FIWARE Board of Directors for 2025-2026

After serving on the Board in both 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, this new term gives Ubiwhere the chance to remain at the heart of shaping global Smart City standards, something that matters more than ever as Portugal experiences a new wave of investment driven by the ENTI (Portuguese Strategy for Smart Territories).” This recognition reinforces not only Ubiwhere’s role as a benchmark in technological innovation but also the growing importance of the Portuguese digital ecosystem on the international stage.

Rui A. Costa is proud to be one of the members elected to represent the more than 650 members of the FIWARE Foundation. The leader of Ubiwhere seeks to add value not only through competence and know-how, but also thanks to the experience accumulated throughout the evolution of the national technological ecosystem, of which Ubiwhere is a part, where it has recorded consistent and impressive growth.

FIWARE is an open-source platform that provides a set of standardised APIs, such as NGSI and NGSI-LD, to facilitate the development of smart solutions. With a modular, component-based architecture, it enables different functionalities to be combined as needed, ensuring interoperability and scalability across a range of applications, from small to complex enterprise solutions. Ubiwhere has been a Gold Member of the FIWARE Foundation since its inception. Together with its members and partners, such as Ubiwhere, the FIWARE Foundation drives the definition and implementation of open-source code and open standards that are fundamental to the development of smart solutions and the creation of a sustainable, innovation-oriented business ecosystem.
