Ubiwhere and Digiwest are internationally selected to develop the Integrated Smart Tourism Flow Monitoring System for the Azores

Ubiwhere

Ubiwhere, in consortium with Digiwest, has been selected by the Regional Government of the Azores to lead the development of the Integrated Smart Tourism Flow Monitoring System for the Azores (SIMIFTA), an innovative project aimed at strengthening the sustainable management of tourism in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Commissioned by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility, and Infrastructure, this ambitious initiative aims to promote a more sustainable, efficient, and data-driven approach to tourism management across the archipelago. With an investment of €598,990.00 and an execution period of just 70 days, SIMIFTA was awarded through an international public tender and is fully aligned with the strategic goals of the Azores Tourism Marketing Strategic Plan (PEMTA 2030).

According to the Regional Government, the SIMIFTA platform will be developed using cutting-edge technology. It will be capable of collecting and analysing real-time data on tourist profiles, mobility, and visitation patterns across the nine islands. This information will be key in supporting data-informed decision-making, contributing to a more balanced and sustainable tourism model.

This new challenge further reinforces Ubiwhere’s role as a national leader in the digital transformation of territories, with solutions focused on urban intelligence, sustainability, and digital innovation. Through this commission, Ubiwhere strengthens its mission to contribute to a more sustainable digital future, with a direct impact on quality of life, governmental efficiency, and regional development. Our involvement in SIMIFTA is yet another example of our commitment to delivering technological solutions that improve lives, empower public authorities, and foster a more intelligent and balanced future.

The SIMIFTA project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), under the Administrative Modernisation Incentive Scheme. It forms part of a broader strategy to modernise public services through innovative digital tools.
