Ubiwhere inaugurates the Route 25 CCAM Open Lab - a lab for connected, autonomous and smart mobility

Ubiwhere

Ubiwhere officially inaugurated the Route 25 CCAM Open Lab on the morning of the 30th of April at its headquarters in the city of Aveiro. The inauguration occurred during the event "Route to the Future: O caminho para os Territórios Inteligentes", where the future of connected and autonomous mobility in Portugal was discussed.

The 30th of April will be remembered for the inauguration of Ubiwhere’s Route 25 CCAM Open Lab, a unique structure for the collaborative development of technologies in mobility. The lab comprises a 5G-CCAM test chamber and a 5G Command, Control and Teleconduction cockpit, which are now at the service of feasibility studies, proof of concept and iterative validation of technological solutions that contribute to transforming mobility standards in Portugal. Four CCAM (Cooperative, Connected and Autonomous Mobility) solutions are currently being developed in the laboratory.

The inauguration of this structure was part of the event "Route to the Future: O caminho para os Territórios Inteligentes". With a program focused on the theme of mobility, this initiative featured the intervention of experts in the field of mobility, such as Paula Teles, Founder and CEO of mpt® - Mobilidade e Planeamento do Território. The event’s program also included a panel exclusively dedicated to the Route 25 project. The Route 25: Agenda for Autonomous, Intelligent, Interoperable and Inclusive Mobility is a project co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR) to "put Portugal at the forefront of intelligent and inclusive transport technologies". Representing the entire sector, Agenda Route 25 involves many public and private entities in Mobility’s technological and innovative development in Portugal. The panel "Route 25: Soluções Digitais para a mobilidade do futuro" featured presentations by Capgemini and Ubiwhere, two of the entities that are part of the project consortium, guiding participants through a debate on the future of connected and autonomous mobility.

In line with this theme, the declaration of principles CCAM Open Lab - a joint vision for Collaboration in Cooperative, Connected and Autonomous Mobility was signed between Ubiwhere (promoter of Route 25 CCAM Open Lab), Ílhavo City Council, in the person of Mayor João Campolargo, and Fundão City Council, represented by Mayor Paulo Fernandes.

The Route 25 CCAM Open Lab will work as a space for developing technologies that can contribute to more autonomous, intelligent, interoperable and inclusive Mobility. According to Rui A. Costa, co-CEO of Ubiwhere, the goal of the Route 25 CCAM Open Lab is "to foster collaboration and the use of our technology at the service of the community and our business partners in the field of smart cities".

Representatives of technology and mobility companies, public authorities, city councils, universities, research centres, and business associations attended the event. Together, we are driving towards an innovative future on the road to creating smart territories!
