Ubiwhere strengthens capacity building for the strategic use of data within the CIT - Porto and North Tourism Intelligence Centre

Ubiwhere

Ubiwhere took part in another capacity-building initiative within the Porto and North Tourism Intelligence Centre (CIT), promoted by Porto Business School, helping to prepare different stakeholders to use the platform and adopt an increasingly data-driven approach to tourism management.

Across two sessions, the main functionalities of the CIT were presented, along with the different ways of navigating and exploring the platform and its potential as a tourism intelligence infrastructure capable of supporting more informed, strategic and sustainable decision-making. The first session included the participation of Turismo Porto e Norte de Portugal and NEST — Tourism Innovation Centre, key partners in connecting the CIT with the tourism ecosystem.

A second, internal session was held for the Porto Business School team and led by João Pardinha, Project Manager at Ubiwhere. The session introduced the CIT, its main areas and functionalities, as well as the different ways of exploring the information available through the platform, helping the team understand how it can be used and the value it can generate within the context of tourism intelligence.

The Porto and North Tourism Intelligence Centre was developed to place data at the heart of decision-making in the tourism sector, bringing together information from multiple sources within a single platform and providing indicators, analytical tools and decision-support mechanisms. As part of the project, Ubiwhere contributes to the design and technological implementation of the platform, including its analytics component, data ingestion and transformation mechanisms, predictive models and a virtual concierge powered by generative Artificial Intelligence.

The platform organises information across different dimensions that are relevant to destination management, enabling the monitoring of areas such as tourism demand and supply, economic impact, mobility, sustainability, visitor sentiment and benchmarking between territories. More than simply providing dashboards and indicators, the CIT aims to create the conditions for data to be used in practical ways to define strategies, identify trends and support more efficient and sustainable tourism management.
