Future Internet and Next Generation Network

5GZORRO is a 5G-PPP Phase 3 project, hoping to leverage the previous work conducted in various SDN and NFV projects and advance such research and acquired know-how into a zero-touch automated solution capable of autonomously managing and orchestrating 5G networks and services, in a multi-stakeholder environment. To do this, a security and trust layer must be designed and implemented, so that multiple parties can safely negotiate with one another while being assured that negotiated SLAs (Service Level Agreements) will be maintained and intelligently managed - all of this autonomously, having in mind different policies, constraints and requirements.

5GZORRO will study which DLT is most suitable for the 5G sector and design and implement different sets of business logic in the form of Smart Contracts, so that governance, enforcement of rules and penalties and auditable is possible, in such an open and trustless environment. The objectives of the project are well-aligned with the future of Ubiwhere’s 5G Neutral Hosting Platform, as the adoption of Blockchain technology may, for instance, enable for a truly open, secure and trusted marketplace involving different actors from the 5G value chain. Such technology would bring trust to the system, easing stakeholders’ mind when conducting business with other parties, while, at the same time, protecting them from unmet SLAs.

This project has received funding from the EU´s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 871533
