6G-Cloud

Future Internet and Next-Generation Networks

ubiwhere

A key innovation in the 6G era will be the new design of the system architecture to support the extreme cloud continuum, in which the network functions of different 6G network segments can be flexibly and dynamically composed based on service needs in various cloud environments.

In this way, 6G-Cloud aims to go far beyond the current design of 5G architecture with disruptive and innovative approaches and solutions. This project will research, develop and validate key technologies to realise a system architecture that is native to artificial intelligence (AI) and favourable to cloud computing. It will also integrate cloud computing resources and allow the network functions of different 6G network segments to be flexibly and dynamically composed based on service needs in hybrid cloud computing environments using orchestration.

This project will use new methods, interfaces, and artificial intelligence and machine learning tools (centred on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Zero Touch Management) to integrate and compose network functions from the cloud in a flexible manner, while providing resilience and security. The 6G-Cloud project introduces a new concept of cloud continuity, which will be developed far beyond current continuity limitations to meet the requirements of the 6G network in terms of performance, intelligence, flexibility, energy efficiency, and extreme resource efficiency.

As part of this project, Ubiwhere will lead the project’s Dissemination and Exploitation Work Package and contribute to analysing use cases, designing the system architecture, developing the resource orchestration structure, and prototyping.

This project has received funding from SNS JU under the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 101139073
