From the 4th to the 6th of November, Barcelona was the capital of urban innovation, hosting the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, the world’s largest event on smart cities, at Fira Barcelona Gran Via.
The Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 brought together 27,104 participants, 1,190 exhibitors and 592 speakers from 143 countries with a single mission: to create more sustainable and inclusive cities. Since its creation in 2011, this event has been an essential meeting point for cities and territories seeking to improve the quality of life of their citizens, bringing together business leaders, public decision-makers and global organisations committed to building smarter, more sustainable and inclusive cities.
Ubiwhere was there as an Industry Partner, continuing its uninterrupted participation since 2014, showcasing its innovative solutions spanning mobility and tourism, demonstrating how technology can transform territory management, promote sustainability, and accelerate the digital transition towards a more efficient and inclusive future. If the time for cities is now, Ubiwhere is suiting the future. Learn more about the main highlights of our participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025:
One such solution was the Urban Platform, a standardised platform compatible with data models (Smart Data Models) that offers an integrated and detailed view of the territory, in line with national and international best practices. This solution enables the analysis of historical data and, with the support of Artificial Intelligence, allows for trend prediction and supports strategic planning. The Urban Platform is a solution that guarantees interoperability and data quality, being compatible with NGSI-LD and NGSI, as well as with the OASC’s Minimal Interoperability Mechanisms (MiMs).
One of the main attractions of our stand: this solution is built on open, interoperable standards. It centralises and harmonises data from multiple sources, including IoT sensors, municipal systems, government platform information and GIS data, transforming it into Territorial Intelligence. The Urban Platform is a modular and flexible solution, with integrated functionalities for the management, analysis and visualisation of urban data for different purposes, including mobility, environment, tourism, energy and sustainability. Recognised by the European Commission as a good practice and by the WSA as a global benchmark in the Government & Citizen Engagement category, the Urban Platform is now an international benchmark for the modernisation and digital transformation of territories.
One of the highlights of our participation this year was the dissemination of Route 25 – Agenda for Autonomous, Smart, Interoperable and Inclusive Mobility. This project aims to position the Portuguese automotive industry at the forefront of future mobility.
Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), Route 25 aims to promote safe autonomous driving and the development of sustainable transport technologies, in line with the European CCAM (Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility) Strategy. Ubiwhere, as a member of the consortium, promoted this project by demonstrating pilot products developed within its scope: the CCAM Operations Centre, the Multi-modal Data-Aware Sensing Platform, Smart Parking, and Edge Offloading.
During the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, more than 600 speakers participated in sessions of enormous technological relevance, including members of the Ubiwhere team:
- Session ‘City4Climate - Digital Twins for Climate Action’ attended by Ana Pereira, Head of R&I at Ubiwhere, where City4Climate was promoted and Ubiwhere’s contribution to this project was disseminated;
- Session ‘Building the Future of Mobility: the Route 25 Case’ with the participation of Sandra Barnabé, Innovation Manager at Ubiwhere, where the progress of Route 25 and Ubiwhere’s contribution to this project were shared;
- Solution Talks ‘Governance for Smarter Growth: Innovation and Digital Futures’, with the participation of Ana Pereira, Head of R&I at Ubiwhere, in a session that aimed to explain how cities are adopting digitalisation and new governance models to accelerate sustainable development;
- Keynote ‘Deploying Autonomous Driving Technology in Our Cities’, with Sandra Barnabé, Innovation Manager at Ubiwhere, as speaker. In this session, we addressed how Ubiwhere supports the implementation of connected and automated mobility solutions.
During the three days of the event, we also had the opportunity to present projects such as NebulOuS, Edgeless, and MLSysOps, as well as the ATT Agenda and the Digital Nervous System Testbed. Under the motto ‘The Time for Cities,’ Ubiwhere’s participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 not only reinforced our international reputation but also actively contributed to the construction of more sustainable, connected, and people-centred cities. Ubiwhere would like to thank everyone who visited our stand. Continue to follow our journey through our digital channels. See you next year!
