From the 5th to the 7th of November, the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 in Barcelona brought together technology companies, political and government bodies, researchers and urban technology enthusiasts. With the theme ‘Live Better’, this event emphasised the importance of using technological solutions to promote quality of life and sustainability in cities.
For one more year running, Ubiwhere, as a leading company in the digital sector focused on the research and development of innovative technological solutions geared towards the Smart Cities and Telecommunications areas, was one of the organisations to take part in Fira Barcelona, where it demonstrated the quality of its products and solutions for the efficient management of cities.
"From Idea to Product" and “From Vision to Reality”, our participation in this event allowed us to share scientific and technological knowledge about our products and disseminate the various research and development projects in which we are involved. During the three days of the Smart City Expo World Congress, the Ubiwhere stand was visited by hundreds of people who showed curiosity and interest in our solutions, such as the Urban Platform, the Digital Nervous System Testbed and Smart PAYT: each solution we create seeks to help citizens to ‘live better’, and this was the concept we wanted to publicise throughout the event.
The main highlight of our stand was the Urban Platform, the flagship Smart Cities product developed by Ubiwhere, which attracted the curiosity of all visitors. Ubiwhere’s Urban Management Platform consists of a digital solution that presents a unified vision of the city through integrating data from different domains and the interoperability of information systems. It is a privileged decision-support tool for municipal technicians and decision-makers, adapting to the reality of each city and with the potential to evolve. It is the centrepiece for creating a Data Centre that encompasses all the realities of the territory. Due to the functionalities described and its compliance with international software development standards for Smart Cities, Ubiwhere’s Urban Management Platform makes a decisive contribution to Territorial Intelligence and the materialisation of a digital transition policy as an engine for development.
Smart Territories represent an evolution in smart cities, expanding the focus to interconnectivity between cities, regions and urban and rural areas. In the context of Ubiwhere’s Urban Management Platform, this concept is gaining momentum, enabling the integration of different urban management components, such as mobility, sustainability, energy and public services, in a single technological platform. Ubiwhere’s Urban Management Platform aims to collect, process and analyse data in real-time, enabling more efficient and adaptable urban management: this technological advance creates an ecosystem of digital governance, which allows authorities and urban managers to make decisions based on concrete data. In this way, Ubiwhere positions itself as an enabler of intelligent solutions that align with the growing demands for more inclusive, sustainable and connected cities: this is the side we decided to show to everyone who visited us during Smart City Expo World Congress 2024!
Ubiwhere also presented Smart PAYT, an urban waste management solution for smart cities, and the Mobility Catalogue through demonstrations of mobility projects disseminated by Ubiwhere. For the second year, Ubiwhere presented the Digital Nervous System Testbed by Ubiwhere and its pilot products, which were exhibited on our stand. The DNS Testbed is a campus for SMEs and startups to develop and test innovative product and service ideas, offering services using computing continuum, 5G, IoT-edge-to-cloud and zero-touch automation technologies.
Ubiwhere’s participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 was marked by the involvement of members of our team in high-impact sessions at the event:
- ‘Embracing Digital Innovation For Smart City Living’, with the participation of Sandra Barnabé, Innovation Manager, where she presented the Digital Nervous System Testbed;
- ‘From Idea to Product: Cities’ Digital Twins Empowered by R&I’ with Ana Pereira, Head of R&I, who explained how innovation and technology can improve people’s lives.
Ubiwhere’s presence at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 demonstrated the company’s commitment to developing and implementing innovative technological solutions in smart cities and territories. During the event, Ubiwhere had the opportunity to present projects that integrate advanced connectivity, energy efficiency and smart mobility in dialogue with the challenges of the cities of the future. In addition, the Ubiwhere team worked to expand our network of partners, as well as researching new market trends and intervening in global debates on urban innovation.
With its scientific knowledge and positioning, Ubiwhere has not only strengthened its international reputation but has also directly influenced the construction of more sustainable, connected cities centred on the well-being of citizens through our vision focused on the role of technology as an essential catalyst for a more inclusive and resilient urban future.
